The Department of Community Medicine in the Institute of Health and Society has, since 2000, been responsible for an international health course since which is part of the course offerings at the University of
Oslo International Summer School.
The International Community Health course provides students with a foundation for understanding global health issues. Important underlying themes for the course are equity, social determinants of health, human rights, and meeting the health needs of marginalised groups of people.
This course is particularly relevant for people who are working as health care professionals and service
providers, policy makers, planners, and program officers in government agencies and non-governmental
organisations.
