The secretariat is funded through a grant from the Research Council of Norway.  

The secretariat staff serve as the secretary for the Board of the Forum and works closely with the Board for the fulfillment of the objectives of the Forum as described in the Statutes contributing to

• Activities that improve and enhance the involvement of Norwegian research institutions in global health research and training
• Initiatives for improving funding from the Government and other sources of relevant and high quality global health research
• Activities for improving collaboration between the research community, the government, the private sector and NGOs for the development of evidence-based policy in the field of global health
• Close communication with important international actors in the field of global health and health research and contribute to international processes in the field of global health research with an emphasis on strengthening the capacity of institutions in low income countries

The secretariat has a primary responsibility in relation to

• Establishment and maintaining a web site for the Forum
• Establishment and maintaining an inventory of activities and resources used for global health research in Norway
• Secure close communication with members of the Forum for exchange of relevant information and news in the field of global health and health research
• Preparation of Board meetings, writing of minutes of the meetings and execution of tasks as decided be the Board
• Preparation of the annual meetings of the General Assembly
• Preparation of annual scientific conferences on global health research in collaboration with the Research Council of Norway
• Preparation of an annual work plan, budget and annual report for the Forum activities to be presented for approval at the annual meeting of General Assembly
• Running of the daily activities of the secretariat and supporting the President and the Board of the Forum in attending to current tasks necessary for a smooth running of the Forum
